David Canady has been a filmmaker in the motion picture industry for over fifteen years. After graduating from New York University he spent years working on the production of motion pictures, made for television movies, music videos and documentaries.
While living in Los Angeles David worked as a non-linear editor specializing in theatrical trailers and television campaigns for studio movie releases. David alsodirected specials shoots for the feature films and cable movies. Currently living in Washington D.C., David edited shows for National Geographic, Discovery channels, History Channel and others.
Screenplays written by David have received numerous awards. His film Weekends In Brooklyn, which he wrote, produced and directed, has appeared on television and film festivals around the world. Critic John Barry wrote, "For convincing drama, David Canady's Weekends in Brooklyn is the most developed of this program. His camerawork is focused and even… with skilled editing Canady manages to give this short a certain charm and coherence." Elmore Leonard, writer of novels such as “Out Of Sight,” “Get Shorty” and “Jackie Brown,” wrote David personally to say, "I found your picture a pleasure to watch... The acting was first rate and I thought the girl especially good."
